STATE OFFICE UPDATE – 9 OCTOBER 2019

MEMBERS State Office has received a deluge of new membership applications following the DVA letter to all TPIs. This is very pleasing and State is doing its best to register new members etc. We welcome new members and, where possible, try to make personal contact and to encourage those who live in the proximity of a Social Centre to consider joining for the camaraderie and information sharing. Any inquiries please contact our Office Manager Beryl, who is doing a sterling job in coping with workload but she is only part-time Wes&Fri 10-2 so please be patient. Soon State Office will be calling for State Management Positions to assist in the Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare roles. These positions are ideally suited to those living in the Brisbane area as regular attendance at state office (Newmarket) will be required. Further details will be provided at a later date but these roles will be critical for the future administration of state office. Brisbane Airport. We know transiting airports can be nerve wracking at the best of times. Brisbane Airport Corporation have introduced an initiative for people travelling who have ‘hidden disabilities’. This may apply to ex service people with mental health issues. Anecdotally it appears the system works well and if you’re interested this is the link: https://www.bne.com.au/passenger/passenger-information/special-assistance/hidden-disabilities Hidden Disabilities | Brisbane Airport Airports are busy environments and for some people this can be a stressful experience, especially if you or someone with you has a disability such as autism, dementia, or anxiety that isn’t immediately obvious to airport staff. www.bne.com.au It’s never too early to pay your yearly membership fees. Queensland has the cheapest of any state so please remember to renew as early as possible. Again if you’re unsure of your status contact Beryl.
